Grab \u2018Em By the Eye Balls<\/h2>\n<p>Your readers and customers don\u2019t click on boring, bland or unsexy headlines.<\/p>\n<p>As a writer, it\u2019s your job to grab them by the eye-balls with an engaging headline.<\/p>\n<p>If you're struggling to find a good headline for your article, take a look at magazine covers like Cosmo.<\/p>\n<p>The writers for magazines like Cosmo are well-paid pros, and you can easily rework any of these proven headlines to suit your copywriting.<\/p>\n<p>For example, I recently adapted the headline <em>10 Sex Myths Busted!<\/em> and turned it into <em>10 Writing Myths Busted!<\/em>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Write at least ten headlines for every article you write and sense-check them using <a href=\"http:\/\/coschedule.com\/headline-analyzer\">CoSchedule Headline Analyzer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/coschedule.com\/headline-analyzer\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-1796 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/teamprojectmayhem.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015-05-18_1805.png?resize=377%2C140\" alt=\"coschedule\" width=\"377\" height=\"140\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/teamprojectmayhem.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015-05-18_1805.png?w=377 377w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/teamprojectmayhem.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015-05-18_1805.png?resize=300%2C111 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 377px) 100vw, 377px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>2. Activate Your Verbs<\/h2>\n<p>Avoid using the <a href=\"http:\/\/examples.yourdictionary.com\/examples-of-active-and-passive-voice.html\">passive voice<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the passive voice, the subject (you) is acted on by a verb. It sounds weak, and you can usually spot the passive voice if a verb ends with -ed.<\/p>\n<p>For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>it was decided<\/li>\n<li>the product was revealed<\/li>\n<li>a product is going to be released<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Instead, use the active voice. In the active voice, the subject (you) perform the action.<\/p>\n<p>For example, say <em>we are<\/em>, <em>the company is<\/em> or <em>I\u2019m going to<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>If you use active voice, your sentences will become stronger and more effective than anything you can achieve with the passive voice.<\/p>\n<h2>4. Write In Reverse<\/h2>\n<p>Professional copywriters know the introduction is the toughest part of any work, and they often leave it till last.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s much harder and far more inefficient to start your writing project at the beginning.<\/p>\n<p>Writing your conclusion (or even the middle of your article first) will give you some directions that you can work your article around. And knowing what your article is about will make writing the introduction a whole lot easier.<\/p>\n<h2>5. Separate Writing and Editing<\/h2>\n<p>Writing is a left-side brain activity, editing is a right-side activity.<\/p>\n<p>When you're writing, your job is to get all your ideas out of your head and onto the blank page without censoring yourself.<\/p>\n<p>Editing is the perfect time for reviewing, researching and rearranging your first draft.<\/p>\n<p>I know some writers even remove the delete keys from their keyboards so they don\u2019t edit and write at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>Through the editing process, it's your job to remove the wheat and the chaff, such as the adjectives and the adverbs in your work and figure out what makes sense and see if the entirety of your article flows.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00a06. Wait at Least 24 Hours Before Pressing Publish<\/h2>\n<p>When you've spent a couple of hours working on an article, it\u2019s difficult to spot typos and mistakes in your work.<\/p>\n<p>If you let your article sit for at least 24 hours, you'll be better able to spot the rotten wood from the trees.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also a good idea to either read your final draft outloud or print it out and proof-read it away from the screen.<\/p>\n<p>I also use the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.becomeawritertoday.com\/grammar-checker-review-grammarly\">grammar checker Grammarly<\/a> as a last line of defense.<\/p>\n<h2>7. \u2026But Make Sure You Press Publish<\/h2>\n<p>Not every article you produce has to be perfect. And you can improve almost <em>everything you write<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t let this stop you writing regularly.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, get into the habit of <a href=\"http:\/\/becomeawritertoday.com\/finish-writing\/\">finishing what you started<\/a> and pressing Publish over and over.<\/p>\n<p>Each time you do this, you'll learn what works, what doesn't work, and what your readers and customers want.<\/p>\n<p>The alternative is to spend hours or even days perfecting something that no one ever sees and which <em>never<\/em> closes a sale.<\/p>\n<h2>Go Out There and Write Like a Pro<\/h2>\n<p>There are no great secrets to writing great web copy.<\/p>\n<p>Writing is a skill like any other, and you've got to practice to improve.<\/p>\n<p>If you do it every day, you'll naturally learn what works and what doesn't work and build better relationships with your readers and customers.<\/p>\n<p>You can start by taking any one of these 7 writing tips and using it to make your next article shine.<\/p>\n<p>What are your copywriting tips for writing great copy that converts? <strong>Share them in the comments section below<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How can improve your copywriting so you can close sales?
