assure you that you are doing things right now that cause a psychological trigger within your audience.<\/p>\n<p>Even if you\u2019re displaying boredom you are creating an emotion that affects attention in your industry.<\/p>\n<p>So it\u2019s all about the <a href=\"http:\/\/teamprojectmayhem.com\/blog\/how-to-increase-the-persuasive-power-of-your-communications\/\">psychology of marketing<\/a> and how you present your brand to people who are the most interested in it.<\/p>\n<p>Would you care to know more?<\/p>\n<p>Let me first explain these features of attention.<\/p>\n<h2>What the Brain Says<\/h2>\n<p>In order to effectively impact someone on an emotional level, you have to understand how the brain reacts and responds to different things that when they land on your website.<\/p>\n<p>If it\u2019s your content, then you need to create an opener that slaps them across the face and makes them sit up and pay attention.\u00a0 It\u2019s about understanding what you need to do to <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.clickmeeting.com\/10-ways-to-entice-an-audience-to-your-webinar\">entice your audience<\/a> to do that action you want them to do.<\/p>\n<p>In this digital age that we\u2019re living in, we can send a text across the world in seconds, cook a pizza in minutes, and grab a full meal at a drive through while in our car.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all about convenience and the MIT study suggests that the brain has grown accustomed to these features and now the average person has a shorter attention span than ever.\u00a0 In fact, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uniview.co.uk\/pdf\/0003%20The%20Study%20of%20Attention%20User%20Guide.pdf\">one study says<\/a>, you have less than 8 seconds to get someone\u2019s attention from the start of whatever it is you\u2019re trying to get them to do.<\/p>\n<p>So you have even less time to get the job done, which is why I want to talk about some things you can do to grab their attention from the get-go and convert that person into a paying customer.<\/p>\n<h3>#1: Listen To Your Audience<\/h3>\n<p>One of the many mistakes I see that content creators make is they sit down and create content without listening to their audience.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2216 size-medium\" title=\"http:\/\/www.gratisography.com\/#objects\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/teamprojectmayhem.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Listen-to-your-audience-1-300x232.jpg?resize=300%2C232\" alt=\"Listen to your audience 1\" width=\"300\" height=\"232\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Social listening is an imperative part of your marketing strategy, and it\u2019s one of the easiest paths to success.\u00a0 The reason behind saying that is that after a while, your target market will tell on themselves by giving you the tools to sell them later.<\/p>\n<p>They will tell you their goals, their dreams, their problems, and everything else in between.\u00a0 It\u2019s a smart marketer that takes advantage of the use of the social listening strategy because you can build your whole success on it.<\/p>\n<p>It is your notebook, your go-to resource for creating content in the future.\u00a0 Everything you need is already out there, all you have to do is make yourself available to listen to them.<\/p>\n<p>One <a href=\"http:\/\/jhp.sagepub.com\/content\/45\/2\/217.short\">psychological journal revealed<\/a> that when a person made themselves available to listen to their audience on a consistent basis, this proved that they were trustworthy to the people doing the talking and therefore had a larger percentage of converting them later.<\/p>\n<p>You see, in order for you to get the attention of someone later, you may have to allow someone to borrow your attention for a while.\u00a0 Not only does it build that relationship in the business that you need, you will also create a repertoire for yourself within your community.<\/p>\n<h3>#2: Give Them a Hook<\/h3>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve established your relationships within the community you now have the leverage to keep them coming to your content.<\/p>\n<p>But not everyone is going to give you their attention when they land on your content.<\/p>\n<p>Every good storyteller knows about the hook.<\/p>\n<p>The hook isn\u2019t anything new in the world of marketing.\u00a0 It is a strategy that is used to keep people reading your content.\u00a0 By the time they get through the hook they\u2019re below the fold, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uniview.co.uk\/pdf\/0003%20The%20Study%20of%20Attention%20User%20Guide.pdf\">this cognitive marketing study<\/a> says that you have a 67% of converting a reader if you get them this far.<\/p>\n<p>While that\u2019s still not 100%, it\u2019s a long way from the meager 8 seconds that you started with.<\/p>\n<p>The hook is significant in your strategy and you should <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/234202\">take some time to make a good hook<\/a> every time you create content.<\/p>\n<h3>#3: Solve A Problem<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.elsevier.com\/journals\/journal-of-consumer-psychology\/1057-7408?generatepdf=true\">This marketing journal states<\/a> an astounding 88% of people that purchase something in the marketing industry purchase because it helps them DO something.<\/p>\n<p>Does your content help people solve a problem?<\/p>\n<p>I remember landing on a website that was totally unrelated to my niche.\u00a0 But they grabbed my attention with their hook.\u00a0 Before I knew what was happening I was halfway down the page, completely engulfed in their content.<\/p>\n<p>I was on a DIY blog that talked about creating a knee wall or a pony wall that separated my living room from my dining room.\u00a0 Very cool.\u00a0 I walked away from that article understanding the tools required and the steps needed to do a certain job that my wife had been after me for months to do.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, I have come back to that website and grabbed more ideas for around the house.\u00a0 While I haven\u2019t purchased anything YET, I probably will because this person has established himself as an authority in my mind.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>Because he helped me figure out a problem that I couldn\u2019t figure out on my own.<\/p>\n<p>Psychologists say that this is a natural human reaction to scenarios like these.\u00a0 People become attached to you in an intimate way because they know that you understand what they\u2019re going through right at that moment, and then you eventually show them how you succeeded.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ivcc.edu\/uploadedFiles\/_faculty\/_dockins\/PSY_chapter__1.pdf\">This is general psychology<\/a> at its best with the human mind.<\/p>\n<p>Help someone with a problem and you\u2019ve got a person that will trust your expertise forever.\u00a0 No, they may not convert right away, but one research reveals that out of all those people you will help in the future, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apa.org\/pubs\/journals\/releases\/psp-a0036673.pdf\">73% of them will come back and convert<\/a> because they trust you.<\/p>\n<h2>Answer the Call to Attention<\/h2>\n<p>There are many ways you can grab someone\u2019s attention.\u00a0 But a lot of the strategies to get it isn\u2019t what you think.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/teamprojectmayhem.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/man-person-apple-iphone.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>More often than not, since you\u2019re talking about the psychology of the situation, it is better if you\u2019re just yourself.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019re a nice person.\u00a0 You like to help people.\u00a0 It\u2019s not like you trying to keep all of your marketing secrets close to your vest and not show anyone what you have learned is it?<\/p>\n<p>If it is, you may want to reconsider because you will gain more conversions from helping and listening than you will going it alone.<\/p>\n<p>In my opinion, the writing comes naturally.\u00a0 With experience and time you will start to learn your style and how to implement the hook naturally.\u00a0 But make sure you\u2019re striving every day to utilize helping and listening because those are
