{"id":7,"date":"2014-04-19T17:13:17","date_gmt":"2014-04-19T22:13:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/teamprojectmayhem.com\/blog\/?p=7"},"modified":"2014-05-02T10:20:44","modified_gmt":"2014-05-02T15:20:44","slug":"lawrence-tam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/teamprojectmayhem.com\/blog\/lawrence-tam\/","title":{"rendered":"Lawrence Tam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/teamprojectmayhem.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/268973_10150316885753474_538118473_9163213_7567302_n-198x300.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-8 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/teamprojectmayhem.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/268973_10150316885753474_538118473_9163213_7567302_n-198x300.jpg?resize=198%2C300\" alt=\"268973_10150316885753474_538118473_9163213_7567302_n-198x300\" width=\"198\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Who is <span class='wp_keywordlink'><a href=\"http:\/\/teamprojectmayhem.com\/blog\/lawrence-tam\/\" title=\"Lawrence Tam\">Lawrence Tam<\/a><\/span>? \u00a0A retired Mechanical Engineer at the age of 33. \u00a0A dedicated father of 3.\u00a0A devoted husband to the girl he first met in middle school, became high school sweethearts, and has been with for more than 1\/2 his life.<\/p>\n<div>Lawrence was born and raised in Houston, Texas (Alief to be exact) to parents who immigrated from Hong Kong in hopes of creating a better life for their family. \u00a0Not one to be considered a brainiac, he delved into sports, tennis, basketball, ping pong (yes that is a sport), especially football. \u00a0Being the obedient son that he is, when he graduated high school, he joined the US Marines Corp Reserves since that is what his parents thought would set him apart from the other 30,000 students that apply to the University of Texas at Austin each year. \u00a0He was, surprisingly, medically discharged from the USMC Reserves due to being diagnosed with exercise-induced asthma. \u00a0He subsequently was accepted into the Mechanical Engineering School at the University of Texas based solely upon his high school accolades (but being in 4 Years of high school football helped).<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>He surrendered his life to the Lord\u2019s plan for him, and what a plan that has turned out to be. \u00a0What started off as looking for ways to chip away at his financial responsibilities, has turned into\u00a0exceptional\u00a0financial independence for him and his family. \u00a0To live debt free was a far stretch with a normal 8-5 job. \u00a0Internet marketing has provided him a life with \u00a0the ability for his wife to stay at home,\u00a0all the kid\u2019s college tuitions taken care of,\u00a0and early retirement.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>He was determined to succeed, despite all the obstacles that stood before him. \u00a0After working at his full-time day job, he came home to spend quality time with his kids before they went to bed. \u00a0Then, his alter-ego, LT the marketer, would kick in until he was exhausted from the non-stop action of a day, sleep for 5 hours, and then it starts all over again. \u00a0To go along with this rigorous schedule, his wife was not on board with this new endeavor at the start. \u00a0Instead of seeing it as the sacrificial act that it was, she saw it as a \u201cproject\u201d that was taking time away from their alone time. \u00a0Thank goodness he had the insight to fight through all these hurdles. \u00a0His hope is to teach, inspire, and encourage his fellow marketing colleagues to rise above and grab ahold of everything this industry has to offer.
